Is Shepherd's Chapel Antisemitic?

In two words: absolutely not. Let me first present pastor Arnold Murray's own words which answer this question:

Kenites

What about the use of the word Kenites? It is a Hebrew word that has only one meaning, "sons of Cain." It does not mean Judah.(eg. Jews) The word Kenite cannot be translated Judah and is never used of Judah. Anyone saying that I use the word to describe Judah is not telling the truth; it would be a lie, because I have never said this.

#30436, "Kenites"
SC's Answer to Critics

Idiot detractors try any spin they can think of to try and claim Murray is antisemitic. My number one argument to counter that spin: The Anti-Defamation League (ADL.org) as well as the ultra liberal Southern Poverty Law Center does NOT include the Shepherd's Chapel in any of their published lists of hate groups.

"What about the SPLC's Intelligence Report article on the Shepherd's Chapel?"

The answer simply is it was written by an independent reporter who apparently did such a shoddy job at investigating the SC the SPLC didn't think it offered enough evidence to conclude the SC belonged on its list of hate groups. It is so full of errors, misrepresentations, and outright lies, not to mention the deliberate anti-SC spin applied to it, it's merely a propaganda piece. And to top it off, Casey Sanchez received most of the info for his article from the person known as "Stage Director" arguably the SC's number one antagonist. She initially denied having anything to do with the article, but later on admitted it, claiming "they" (SPLC) contacted her.

Funny, other than references to "they" (SC students) there were no current students interviewed for the article, and the other propaganda aside from Stage Director was Paul Stringini's, who has nothing but a negative opinion based upon falsehoods to offer.

Attempts by this writer to contact Sanchez went unanswered, which of course raises the question as to whether he was deliberately avoiding having to account for claims he made in the article.

The ADL, (Anti-defamation League) also does not list the SC by name, and also publishes a list of antisemitic groups as well as a list of influential Christian Identity Ministers. Neither list includes Pastor Murray or the Shepherd's Chapel. How do SC detractors explain why the SC is excluded from such lists?

The answers ranged from no answer "I don't know" to  absurd: "Well, his teachings are so subtle most fail to realize they are being indoctrinated." Quite frankly, that is bullshit. That claim smacks of arrogance and desperation. You mean to tell me those who have made that claim know more about the SC than than those responsible for determining whether a Church or organization is antisemitic from the ADL and SPLC?

  1. Smyrna,

One of the anti Shepherd's Chapel sites reflects that Dr. Murray makes a distinction between those he calls "Judah" and those who are called "Jews" by most of the world.

Those who are Judah are of the tribes of Israel; those who call themselves and who are called "Jews" by most of the world are actually Kenites and not of the tribe of Judah.

In other words, most of the world equates Judah with Jew...they believe they are one and the same. Yet, according to the anti chapel site I spoke of, Dr. Murray teaches that ALL those who call themselves Jews are kenites and are NOT from the tribe of Judah.

In addition, this anti chapel site reflects that Dr. Murray believes that those who are of German blood are actually Judah.

I do not believe that Dr. Murray or the Shepherd's Chapel teaches what the anti chapel site reflects.

I am a Shepherd's Chapel Student and have been for at least 20 years. I intend to remain a Chapel student and continue learning scripture from Pastor Dennis Murray. I party in Jesus's name that God give Pastor Dennis Murray a double portion of the knowledge, understanding, memory, intelligence, patience and teaching abilities and skills that He gave Dr. Murray and that his ministry continue to grow. AMEN
